Julie Jacobs launched Single Serve Co with the intent of supporting small and local coffee growers & roasters with their packaging needs, specifically in Keurig compatible single serve pods. Our cafe, The Kitchen, brings healthy premium products to the community.
Julie is a long time resident of Simi Valley, California where she raised her twins and myriad of dogs and cats. She has a varied background in HR, IT, Finance and Small Business Development. Having lost a coffee company during the pandemic, she formulated a plan and new business to help industry colleagues tap into a market that was previously unreachable for small businesses. It was a culmination of all her life experience, introductions and luck that brought her here. Getting to see Single Serve Co come to fruition and serve the community in the way she intended has been one of the most fulfilling challenges of her life. Her favorite part of being in the coffee industry is traveling in search of new coffees, the friends it has led her to, and geeking out with Chris over new formulations.
Chris Balay is the Operations Manager at Single Serve Co and often the first friendly face you will see at The Kitchen. He has a background in sourcing, roasting, brewing, formulation and cupping. He is indispensable to our company. He brings talent, taste and work ethic, which is a hard to find combination. If you have questions about coffee or tea, Chris is the guy you should talk to. In addition to working his magic at SSC, Chris also trains in Jiu Jitsu and is the lead singer of the band Elitist.
